Former Hartsville deputy town marshal arrested
BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A former Hartsville deputy town marshal is behind bars after police say he sent sexually explicit text messages to a 12-year-old.
Lyn A. Nunemaker, 51, was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail for 72 hours, awaiting formal charges, after he was arrested on Friday night by Indiana State Police, according to 24-Hour News 8’s partners at The Republic.
ISP made the arrest around 5:30 p.m. in a parking lot at Seventh Street and Gladstone Avenue. ISP said they gathered evidence that a juvenile was getting text messages that included graphic descriptions and sexual activity from Nunemaker’s phone number.
According to court documents, Nunemaker told police that he sent messages and photos to the 12-year-old and was aware they were a minor.
Nunemaker was preliminarily charged with child solicitation and disseminating harmful materials to minors.
The Hartsville Town Council president said that Nunemaker was removed from his unpaid duties as deputy town marshal on Friday night. Nunemaker’s wife currently serves at the Hartsville Town Marshal. She has been in the position for about a year.
