INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Mosquitoes with West Nile Virus have been found in both Marion and Hamilton counties.

According to the Marion County Public Health Department, no one has been infected with the virus and that only mosquitoes have tested positive.

The positive tests came from a group of mosquitoes found from a surveillance trap in Washington Township.

In Hamilton County, the mosquitoes that tests positive came from the Meadowlark Park area. According to the mosquito control webpage, crews plan to spray that area starting at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22.

To protect against mosquito bites, the Marion County Health Department says to use insect repellent with DEET, empty any standing water outside the house, and if possible, stay indoors from dusk until dawn. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
