Purdue player Jacquil Taylor gets season back under hardship

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – The Big Ten has granted Purdue forward Jacquil Taylor a medical hardship waiver, restoring his freshman season of eligibility.

The 6-foot-9 Taylor appeared in just six games for the Boilermakers last season and totaled 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots in 42 minutes of playing time. Taylor was out for much of the season after struggling to overcome nagging leg and shin injuries, suffered during his high school career at Beaver Country Day School.

The team said Tuesday that Taylor has been cleared to practice this summer. He joins a freshman class that includes Indiana Mr. Basketball Caleb Swanigan, a forward, and Mr. Basketball runner-up Ryan Cline, a guard.
