Choir brings teacher battling cancer to tears with Martina McBride song

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (WKRN) – In a video quickly going viral, a favorite teacher recently diagnosed with cancer is brought to tears by her school’s choir.

The PS22 choir in Staten Island, New York, which typically performs a song for their director at the end of the year, decided to dedicate Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” to Mrs. Adriana Lopez.

According to the video, which was posted to YouTube, Lopez recently found out she has breast cancer.

“This song was suggested by Ms. Lisa for our dedication to this strong and inspiring woman, and it’s hard to imagine a more perfect selection,” the video’s description says.

Lopez is seen sitting in the choir room and immediately begins to tear up as the choir’s director explains they “wanted to give something back” in honor of her “fighting spirit.”
