CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A Galveston man has been cited for dumping several dogs in rural Cass County.

Ronald Brown, 74, faces three Class B infractions for placing or leaving dead animals on property not belonging to him.

25 dogs, including many puppies, and a cat were found dead in April. The dogs were all identified as bluetick hounds and some had been shot.

The infractions allege that Brown littered by discarding his dead animals in three separate locations. Prosecutor Lisa Swaim said in a press release that a charge of animal cruelty does not apply to this case because of a lack of evidence of “torture or mutilation.” Also, Brown couldn’t be charged with illegal dumping because it does not apply to small animals, including dogs and cats.

Brown faces up to a $1,000 fine for each infraction.
