INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and IKEA are offering a repair program that will include a free wall anchoring kit.
The kit is for their MALM three and four drawer chests. It also includes two of their MALM six drawer chests and dressers. According to a release, the dressers can tip if they are not properly secured to the wall.
IKEA reports that two children died after MALM chests tipped over and fell on the children. IKEA asks that anyone using the dressers and chests to discontinue use of them until they obtain an anchor kit.
Around 7 million MALM chests and other IKEA dressers are part of the nationwide repair program.
