LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A convicted sex offender and murderer is out of jail and could be in the Indianapolis area.
According to the North West Indiana Times, Richard Dobeski was in Indianapolis on Monday.
Dobeski was sentenced for the murder of two children in the 1960’s. He was released in 2003. However, he was later arrested in 2008 in Pulaski County for fondling a young boy.
Dobeski was released from jail last week from the LaPorte County Jail.
Officials told The Times Dobeski took a bus to Indianapolis after a Gary homeless shelter closed the day before.
However, officials say Dobeski was not staying at the homeless shelter.
Police say Dobeski is not facing any charges, but he must register on the national sex offender registry. If he fails to do so by Friday police could issue a warrant for his arrest.
Police warn that Dobeski will likely offend again.
