INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Investigators are looking into what caused an early morning fire Thursday that forced seven people from their home.

The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the 1200 block of West 29th Street just before 2 a.m. where they found heavy fire coming from the house.

The seven people inside say they woke up to the sound of the fire and were able to make it out OK.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the flames under control. They say live power lines and an electrically charged fence made their attack difficult.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Officials say the Red Cross will help those displaced find shelter.

The fire caused $50,000 in damages. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
