Woman arrested in recent hit-and-run death

INDIANAPOLIS — One person has been arrested in a recent hit-and-run case.

26-year-old Jayme Murphy faces preliminary charges in the death of 27-year-old Thomas Abell.

Murphy is accused of striking Abell in the early morning hours of June 28.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigators say that Murphy fled the scene, leaving Abell to be found unresponsive near the intersection of Kessler Boulevard East Drive and Crestview Avenue.

Abell was pronounced dead on the scene.

Murphy faces preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
