Tamika Catchings’ event provides kids with school supplies

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Hundreds of Indianapolis children got the tools they need to succeed in school Sunday, thanks to WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings.

Her Catch the Stars Foundation gave more than 500 students backpacks filled with school supplies.

“One of our core priorities at the Catch The Stars Foundation is literacy and education, and we really believe in preparing and setting up all our students in the Indy metro area that are partaking in this program to succeed in school,” T.J. McGovern said.

Catchings couldn’t make it to the event after playing in last night’s WNBA All-Star game in Connecticut.

This is the 10th year for the back to school celebration.
