Firefighter Tim cooks up a meal fit for Christmas in July

It’s Christmas in July today on Indy Style! So get out the ham, mashed potatoes and homemade cookies!

That’s exactly what Firefighter Tim did this morning in our kitchen, and the recipes are delicious! He reminds us that NOW is a great time to donate to holiday programs because this is when a lot of planning and purchasing for holiday assistance programs takes place. It might also be easier for you in July, as it’s often a lot harder to donate during the holidays because of all the cost during that time.

Here are the recipes from today’s show!

Ham: Any glazed ham

First place ham in high sides pan, poor Dr. Pepper over ham then Orange juice and pineapple juice. Next glaze ham with glaze that came with it. Next drizzle honey over ham then pack brown sugar over whole ham making your ham look like a meteorite now I like to drizzle more honey.

Next, place pineapple rings on the ham and cover pan with alumina foul place in oven set to 300 degrees for hour and half with about 15 min left uncover.

Mash potatoes: First peel potatoes, cut into blocks, then boil till they are soft. Next, mash potatoes adding cream cheese, salt butter and heavy whippingcream, to taste.Snickerdoodle Cookies :

1c shortening

1.5c plus 2 tbsp. sugar

2eggs

2 3/4 c. Flour

2tsp. Cream of tartar

1tsp. Baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix shortening and 11/2 cups of sugar; add eggs. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt chill dough; roll out the size of a walnut. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 mins.
