IU students spend summer working on campus sustainability

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – More than a dozen Indiana University students spent this summer doing internship work to make the Bloomington campus more sustainable.

The IU Internship Program in Sustainability started in 2007 and is offered twice a year. IU’s sustainability director William Brown says the paid interns are chosen from dozens of applications. The interns are assigned to various groups.

The (Bloomington) Herald Times reports that Annabella Habegger spent the summer with Hoosier to Hoosier community sale. The program gathers unwanted items from IU residence halls and sells them at low prices at the beginning of the fall semester.

Another student, Will Drews, worked on a new project cataloging the trees on campus with a database to help with emerald ash borer treatments.
