Police look for man involved in 10 local robberies
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for help to identify a man wanted in connection to at least 10 robberies in Marion County.
The most recent robbery happened at a gas station on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
Police believe the man may have someone helping him in several of the robberies, targeting gas stations and fast food restaurants near closing time.
Surveillance video shows him walking into the Speedway gas station near Hartman Drive and Pendleton Pike earlier this week.
The man is seen on camera wearing a bandana, pointing his gun at the clerk and demanding money.
“He enters the business and threatens with a weapon in hand and our victims comply with his demands and then he exits the business,” said Officer Rafael Diaz, IMPD.
Investigators say they were able to connect the suspect to at least 10 robberies across Marion County given his method of operation.
“Several other robberies he does enter the business with the face covered and some other things,” said Diaz.
Police said the other robberies are happening at fast food restaurants like Burger King.
The location near 38th Street and North Illinois Street was robbed on July 11.
Police believe the suspect would make his move near closing time, shooting out the windows to get inside if the front doors are locked.
“I can’t believe it,” said Qiana Parks, fast food employee. “I mean, it happened.”
Qiana Parks works the evening shift at a fast food restaurant. She said you can never be too careful while on the clock.
“You got to be careful, always on your toes around this town,” said Parks. “You know people are going for stuff, they want money or something so they will probably do anything so you have to be careful.”
24-Hour News 8 learned that in two of the cases, the suspect would open fire inside of the store to scare the victims. Police said no injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a black man believed to be in his early to mid-20s. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and grey pants.
