Scott Dixon will start on the pole at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (WISH) – Scott Dixon reset the track lap record in the Firestone Fast Six segment of knockout qualifications to earn the Verizon P1 Award for his second pole of the season and the twenty third of his Indy car career, which ties Johnny Rutherford for twelfth of all time.

“I’ve got to thank my teammates, obviously Team Target has done a helluva job all weekend, the car rolled off fantastically. It’s always great to be here at Mid-Ohio with so many fans. Turns four and five have been packed over there already which is fantastic to see,said Dixon

Four different teams were represented in the Firestone Fast Six, and 11 drivers overall recorded laps quicker than the former record. Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power, driving the No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, will join Dixon on the front row after posting a best lap of 1:04.6782.

Verizon IndyCar Series championship points leader Juan Pablo Montoya of Team Penske will start 10th in the No. 2 Hawk Performance Chevrolet. Graham Rahal of New Albany, Ohio, who is 42 points behind in second place, will start thirteenth in the No. 15 Steak ‘n Shake Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

Track records also have been reset this season on the streets of St. Petersburg, Long Beach and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
