Subway on latest Fogle allegations: ‘If true, it’s appalling’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Subway is responding to a report published that raised disturbing allegations about former spokesman, Jared Fogle.

The posts on both Subway’s Twitter and Facebook pages read:

The latest allegation about Jared Fogle, if true, is appalling. As previously stated, we have suspended our relationship with Jared.

Subway released a longer version of the same statement to 24-Hour News 8 on Monday:

This allegation, if true, is appalling and is contrary to the values of our brand. As previously stated, we have suspended our relationship with Jared. We have no record that this alleged complaint was ever brought to our attention. Had it been, we would have taken immediate action.

Business Insider reports the FBI has subpoenaed a court document that details lewd text messages reportedly sent between Fogle and a woman who was a Subway franchise employee. The article stated those text messages include a request for that woman to advertise herself on Craiglist for sex. The article, which cites the woman’s attorney as an unnamed source, also said Fogle bragged about paying for sex with a 16-year-old girl.Fogle has not been charged with any crime.

Subway cut ties with him after his home was raided by the FBI in July. As 24-Hour News 8 has previously reported, the former head of his charity foundation, Russell Taylor, could face federal child pornography charges.

Prosecutors have asked for more time to investigate that case.

Fogle’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment. Federal prosecutors would not confirm or deny the existence of the subpoena.
