INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Animal Care and Control officials say they are ‘near capacity’.

The group is asking for help from other shelters to help get some of the animals adopted or rescued.

The facility has 271 dog kennels and is currently housing 253 dogs.

Animal Care and Control also has almost 300 cats in its facility on the west side of Indianapolis as well.

Adoption fees have been reduced to just $20 for all dogs on the adoption floor from now through Saturday August 8. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
