Man charged for child porn, manual called ‘How to practice child love’

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – On Monday, 73-year-old Edward F. Dupont of Holyoke was charged in U.S. District Court in Springfield with one count of possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of children.

U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said federal agents served a search warrant at Dupont’s residence on June 23, when Dupont waived his Miranda rights.

During an interview with the agents, Dupont allegedly admitted to having a sexual interest in young children, using his computer to see child porn sites, downloading pictures and videos and storing child porn on his home computer, according to the court documents.

The court documents also mentioned that Dupont denied having any sexual contact with children, but did admit that neighborhood children came over to play in his backyard and in his basement. He also allegedly gave copies of his house keys to neighbors so their children could come over any time to play with games.

“Federal agents seized a personal computer with over 16,000 images and 35 videos of child pornography,” Ortiz said. Four of the video files seized showed 5-year-old females being raped.

Ortiz added that the computer contained a 170 page manual called “How to practice child love”.

The manual presents itself as “An education(al) and a step-by-step guide for adults to engage and practice sexual relationships with underage children.”  The manual also stated, “You do not even need to leave your own house or lot to meet new children and child love candidates. If you are bound to stay at your house, and preferably living alone, you can actually get the kids all the way to your front door, and even inside.  This might even be a very safe option too, since as soon as you get the kids inside, no one can watch your activities from outside.”

Dupont faces 20 years in prison, followed by five years, a lifetime term of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
