Brentwood, Calif. (WISH) — Many on social media thought Whole Foods was joking when they briefly sold “asparagus water.”
The retailer sold the water for a short time in a California store in Brentwood.
An Instagram user snapped a picture of the water and the photo quickly went viral.
The water contained three stalks of asparagus and was selling for about $6.
In a statement, a Whole foods spokesperson said the bottles were mistakenly sold at that location, and has since been removed.
The spokesperson also said the product was meant to be water with the “essence” of vegetables – that’s made by soaking vegetables over a long period of time, similar to bone broth.
