LAFAYETTE (WLFI) – Former McCutcheon High School teacher, Jakob Robinson, has been sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections for charges involving a sixteen-year-old student.

Robinson, 38, is expected to serve five years in the Department of Corrections and three years of supervised probation.

Prosecutors said while the relationship began in October of last year, the two met when the girl was a freshman in Robinson’s gym class.

The Tippecanoe School Corporation fired Robinson shortly after his arrest in January.

On June 25, a judge heard Robinson enter a guilty plea. He pleaded guilty to all five counts of child seduction. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
