Man arrested for impersonating an officer

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A man accused of impersonating an officer in West Lafayette is out on bond.

West Lafayette Police arrested 23-year-old Justin Ewert on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and U.S. 231.

An off-duty officer says he saw Ewert driving recklessly in heavy traffic and flashing a white light at other drivers.

When police stopped Ewert, they say they found radio and video systems mounted in the car, as well as handcuffs and a gun.

Ewert is charged with impersonating law enforcement and carrying a handgun without a license.

He bonded out of the Tippecanoe County Jail Friday morning.
