Pennsylvania boy takes action to keep ducks safe

TAMAQUA, Pa. (WISH) — A little boy went into action to keep ducks in his Pennsylvania town safe.

8-year-old Keenan Cook says he was in the car with his mom last month when he saw a duck that had been killed by a vehicle.

He says that made him sad. So, he wrote a letter to city council members, asking them to add duck crossing signs near where the duck died, and they did.

Cook says he’s happy he made a difference.

“Ducks can be safe and people can be safe,” said Cook. “I think he learned that he has a voice and there’s a positive way to use that voice and that he should be active in his community.”

Cook’s mother says her son may be a little politician, and could one day be on the city council himself.
