Police: 2 dead, 1 injured in shootings in Gary

Gary police Lt. Dawn Westerfield said in a news release that the department was notified of a gunshot victim at a hospital around 9 p.m. Monday. Officers talked with the victim and the person who drove him, and later found a person dead while looking for the crime scene.

Westerfield said Gary police also responded to reports of a man down around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday. Officers found outside a male victim dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, the surviving victim was to be airlifted to a Chicago hospital for further treatment.
