Fishers man shows off golf scorecard collection

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – The PGA Championship is this week in Kohler, Wisconsin at Whistling Strait. Fishers native, Paul Hansan has a connection to that course and hundreds more.

Hansan loves the game of golf and as hobby he collects scorecards from golf courses. The IU graduate has over 2,500 scorecards of 1,400 courses.

“Thirty years ago when I started playing a few places I picked them up here and there and started asking friends to get them. It was easy because if you ask somebody to get you a golf shirt then they would have to pay for it. Then you would have to deal with the money back and forth. Scorecards are for free. So people kind of took it upon themselves to grab me scorecards,” said Hansan.

Hansan has played many of those courses and the scorecards come from everywhere. He has 40 different states, 20 countries and some elite golf courses.

“Pebble Beach and Augusta,” said Hansan. He also has a plethora of scorecards from local courses and easily identified his favorite scorecard.

“I would have to say Pine Valley, because it’s the number one course in the world and I got to play it,” said Hansan.

But, there are six scorecards on his wall that he holds close to his heart. The six where he made a hole in one. He said filling his wall with these scorecards brings back so many great memories with friends and family of how good the game of golf has been to him.

“Some of this brings me back to my dad who I lost in March. He and I did a lot of these together including a trip to Scotland,” said Hansan.
