Indianapolis man faces more than two dozen charges in rape, confinement case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been charged with 25 criminal charges after investigators say he raped three victims and attempted to rape another in a 10 day span.

Randy Pitts, 22, has been charged in Marion County for the alleged crimes. Investigators said three victims provided similar descriptions after being raped in the area of 1600 Bellefontaine Street. A fourth victim reported an attempted rape in the 100 block of West Maryland Street.

The crimes were all reported between July 17 and July 27. Victims reported the suspect being armed with a handgun.

Pitts was arrested after being questioned by detectives.

He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a $200,000 surety bond.

Altogether, Pitts faces 20 felony charges and 5 misdemeanor charges.

3. Kidnapping while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
4. Criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
5. Pointing a firearm (level 6 felony)
6. Carrying a handgun without a license (class A misdemeanor)
7. Rape (level 1 felony)
8. Rape (level 1 felony)
9. Kidnapping while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
10. Criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
11. Intimidation where defendant draws or uses a deadly weapon (level 5 felony)
12. Pointing a firearm (level 6 felony)
13. Carrying a handgun without a license (class A misdemeanor)
14. Rape (level 1 felony)
15. Kidnapping while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
16. Criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony)
