Serial robber gets 32 years for at least 23 heists

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 32 years behind bars after a crime spree that lasted more than a year.

32-year-old Jeffery Wilson, Jr. was sentenced after being found responsible for more than 23 robberies of businesses in central Indiana.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

“Mr. Wilson supplemented his income by robbing commercial businesses in and around Indianapolis,” said Josh J. Minkler, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “He will have plenty of time to rethink his ways while serving time in federal prison.”

Wilson also had prior state felony convictions for theft, commercial robbery, carrying a handgun without a license, and domestic battery,

Wilson was 23 commercial robberies in Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Lafayette, Columbus, Greenwood, Shelbyville, Marion, Kokomo, and Anderson between November 2013 and February 2015.

Restitution is expected to exceed $42,000.
