INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Gov. Mike Pence underwent non-emergency outpatient surgery Monday for the second time in less than a week.
A media release issued by the governor’s office stated that the second surgery was to address minor complications associated with last week’s operation.
A suture was reportedly removed to relieve pressure on a nerve.
“The Governor’s surgery was successful and he has returned to the Governor’s residence to rest and recover,” said Press Secretary Kara Brooks. “The Governor and the First Lady are truly grateful for the kind concern and prayers of so many Hoosiers. The Governor looks forward to resuming a full schedule next week.”
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, executive branch duties were temporarily handed off to Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann.
