BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana and Louisville will play three future games in football and men’s basketball.
Hoosiers athletic director Fred Glass had been looking for a replacement to border-state rivalry with Kentucky since the basketball contract expired after the 2011-12 season.
Indiana and Louisville will play the first basketball game Dec. 31, 2016, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Louisville will host the second game, Dec. 9, 2017, with Indiana hosting the third game on Dec. 8, 2018.
The football teams will play Sept. 16, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy with the second game set for Sept. 7, 2024, at Louisville and the final game on Sept. 6, 2025, at Indiana.
Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich called the series a “natural.” Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean called it a “tremendous challenge.”
