Police investigate deadly Shelby County crash

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — One person died Friday morning when two vehicles collided in Shelby County, police and emergency management officials confirm.

The crash was in the 2200 block of Boggstown Road.

The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Mary Walters of Shelbyville.

Walters was ejected from the van.

Investigators said that her vehicle was traveling eastbound on Boggstown Road and it left the southside of the roadway.

Walters’ vehicle then skidded out of control and into the lane that another vehicle was traveling in.

The driver of the second vehicle was 42-year-old Jeffrey Hunt, also of Shelbyville.

Hunt was transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the accident.

Toxicology results are pending.
