TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A man who tried to burn his wife’s house down after she kicked him out of the home for cheating on her is sentenced to more than three decades in prison.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tyler Williams was arrested in June of last year, when officers saw him snort cocaine off a table at the Biltmore Tap Room.

Tippecanoe County prosecutors say a few hours earlier firefighters fought a house fire on the 1800 block of 15th Street that had been set intentionally with Williams’ wife and five others inside including three children.

A taxi driver later told officers he drove Williams to a gas station that night where he filled a can of gas, dropped him off at the house, then took him back to the bar.

Williams pleaded guilty last month to several charges including arson and being a habitual offender. He was sentenced Monday to 32 years behind bars and six years suspended.
