Computer tracking feature leads Gary police to stolen truck

GARY, Ind. (AP) – Police say they were able to track down a northwest Indiana woman suspected of stealing a pickup truck after the owner activated a tracking feature on a laptop inside of the vehicle.

Court documents show 33-year-old Kathleen McIntire of Griffith is charged with auto theft and theft. She’s being held at the Lake County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Police say McIntire stole the keys to the pickup at St. Mark’s Church in Gary and then drove off.

The victim told police that he left the keys in the church’s kitchen while attending a service, and he later noticed the keys and truck were missing.

Police were able to use a locator application on the victim’s computer to find his truck.

It wasn’t immediately clear if McIntire has an attorney.
