CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana pastor and another church worker are accused of beating several children in their care.
Prosecutors say the abuse occurred at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Sellersburg, north of Louisville, Kentucky. They say the church operates a boarding academy for mostly out-of-state students.
Pastor Gerald Harris and Christopher Williams were arrested earlier this week and face charges of battery and neglect of a dependent. They’re accused of whipping at least five children with a wooden paddle.
Online court records don’t indicate whether either man has an attorney who could comment on their behalf. Neither man has a publicly listed phone number. A phone number for the church rang unanswered Friday morning.
The children have been removed from the church.
