Tenth running of Centaur Stakes at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino

Are you ready for tonight’s race?!! A full field of 12 has been assembled for the 10th running of the $200,000-added Centaur Stakes, the biggest turf race of the season at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino.

Nancy Holthus, trackside analyst at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino, stopped by our studios this morning to chat with Amber about the event and what’s next on the calendar! But first, here are a few details you may want to take note of:

The Listed stakes is set as the ninth race on the 11-race card and will have an estimated post time of 5:49 p.m. EST. The Centaur Stakes is also joined by three other stakes races on the card, including the $200,000-added Indiana Grand, also a Listed stakes carded as the seventh race with an estimated post time of 4:53 p.m. EST. The Centaur Stakes drew 35 nominations with several Graded Stakes placed three-year-olds. Several of those horses have been entered in the race and are led by Courtier from the Bill Mott barn.

Courtier comes into Indiana off a third place finish in his last start in the Grade II Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga over the turf course. The Pioneer of the Nile colt will be making his first start in Indiana and only his third start of 2015. Indiana Grand will be the sixth racetrack he has competed at in his brief career for Khaled Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms, who also bred the horse. Joel Rosario, who has ridden Courtier in the past two starts, is scheduled to ride once again from post 11.

Live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing continues at Indiana Grand through Oct. 31, racing at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with Saturday racing held at 6:05 p.m. Thursday racing will begin Sept. 17 through the remainder of the meet.
