Philips recalls select bulbs due to laceration, burn hazards

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Philips issued a recall for their halogen bulbs due to laceration and burn hazards, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall includes Philips 60W PAR 16 12OV halogen bulbs. According to the recall, the lens of the bulb can shatter in the lamp or the lens can fall and break, causing damage, laceration or a burn.

The bulbs were made between Nov. 2013 to March 2015.

The bulbs affected by the recall have specific date codes with the month and year of production painted on the bulb.

Philips says there have been 13 reports of the lens shattering and five of those reports included property damage and two included laceration injuries.

If you have one of the bulbs you should stop using it. Philips will replace the bulb for free.
