INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Zoo issued a statement on Tuesday regarding the status of the cheetah exhibit at the zoo.

Without a witness or video, we can never be 100 percent sure of how Pounce got out.

The Zoo staff has reviewed the cheetah exhibit. We are currently assessing possible modifications.

Once finalized, an installation schedule will be put into place. There is no timetable for the modifications to be completed.

The cheetahs continue to remain in their behind-the-scenes area.

The evaluation of the cheetah exhibit comes after a ‘Code Red’ was issued when Pounce, the cheetah, escaped his exhibit on Sept. 6.

Officials said that even though the public was never in any real danger, these types of situations must be taken seriously.
