COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – The win-a-house contest in Columbus is off.

A couple who wanted to give away their home in an essay contest says the contest is off because they didn’t receive enough entries.

In June the Rallings decided to open an essay contest and the winner would get their home. The contest involved writing a 250 word or less essay on “A Life Well Lived.” The entry fee was $150.

Despite the contest being shared more than 1,000 times the numbers fell flat.

The couple needed to get a minimum of 4,500 entries for the winner to get the 6,200 square foot home on almost five acres of property. The home also had a pool.

Anyone who entered the contest will get their money back.
