Two Purdue football players arrested

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two Purdue football players were arrested early Wednesday morning.

Freshmen reserve cornerbacks Evyn Cooper and David Rose were arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on Northwestern Avenue on Purdue’s campus.

According to Purdue police, Cooper was arrested for theft, while Rose was arrested for attempted theft. Cooper and Rose were booked into Tippecanoe County Jail and released on bond.

“Coach [Darrell] Hazell is aware of the situation,” said associate athletic director for communication Matt Rector. “We will let the legal process play out.”

The Boilermakers host Virginia Tech on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
