HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The board for the Hamilton Heights School Corporation voted Thursday morning in favor of terminating a bus driver’s employment following a crash Monday.

A personnel report was listed as the last item on the board’s agenda for a meeting scheduled for 7 a.m. Thursday.

Janet Shaw has been suspended as a district driver since Monday when authorities said she crashed into a utility pole while intoxicated and continued on her route with students on board.

According to court documents, Shaw had taken pain pills and a muscle relaxer the night before the accident.

Twenty-two middle and high school students were on the bus, none of whom were seriously hurt.

Prosecutors have filed 18 charges against Shaw, eight of which are felonies. Shaw pleaded not guilty to the charges in her first court hearing on Tuesday.
