Attendance on the rise at Ross-Ade Stadium
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The fans appear to be coming back to Ross-Ade stadium this fall.
Heading into their third straight home game this weekend, Purdue’s home attendance is up almost 20 percent from last year. Last week, nearly 46,000 filled Ross-Ade to see the Boilermakers take on Virginia Tech.
Senior Associate Athletics Director Tom Schott said attendance the first two games was higher than any home game last year. He said reduced ticket prices and the athletic boarding pass for students have helped increase attendance.
“We’ve been telling the fans, ‘We need them. The team needs them,’ They bring so much to the environment of gameday,” said Schott. “They help our players, help our recruiting and have responded. Not only have they shown up, but they’ve been into the game, they’ve been engaged. They’ve been loud.”
Of the nearly 43,000 that have attended each game so far, nearly a quarter of it has come from students.
Purdue will host Bowling Green Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
