North Vernon police continue search for abandoned baby’s mother

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police continue to investigate after a 12-hours-old baby boy was abandoned at a North Vernon church Friday.

Police tell 24-Hour News 8 that they followed up on several leads this weekend, trying to find the boy’s mother, but they were unsuccessful.

Officers say they want to find the mother to make sure she’s getting medical treatment.

Medical personnel believe the mother might have the same infection the baby is being treated for.

As of Sunday afternoon, police believe the baby is still healthy and being treated for infection.

Anyone with information about the baby or his mother is asked to call 911.
