Former Speedway fire chief pays back $58K stolen from town

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — The former Speedway fire chief has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $58,000 in town funds.

Mark Watson pleaded guilty to theft and official misconduct.

As a result, he will spend two years on probation and has now paid back the full amount in restitution.

He will also pay the State Board of Accounts back for costs associated with an audit.

Watson was fire chief for Speedway between June 2010 and October 2014.
