State agency seeks consumers’ views on utility bills

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The state Office of Utility Consumer Counselor wants to hear from Indiana residents about the amount of detail that appears on utility bills.

The office is inviting people to complete a survey on utility billing at its home page at www.IN.gov/OUCC through Oct. 7.

The office also is seeking consumers’ views on the clarity of the language in the bills and ways that utilities might be able to make bills more understandable. The OUCC is participating in a utility billing symposium hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission about best practices, along with addressing billing concerns.

Utility Consumer Counselor David Stippler says the results will provide a clearer understanding about the information ratepayers want to see on bills and how they want to see it.
