WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — A New York-based company has picked Boone County for its new facility.
Vroom, the largest online car store in the U.S., announced plans Wednesday to locate its new reconditioning and fulfillment center inside the former Subaru building in Whitestown. It will create up to 220 new jobs by 2020.
The company allows its customers to purchase, finance and sell refurbished, pre-owned vehicles online. They also deliver vehicles to their customers for free, 24 hours a day, within a 300-mile radius.
Vroom will invest $13.5 million on the 501,120-square-foot facility. According to a release, it will house up to 2,500 cars at a time that will be refurbished on site.
Officials say construction is beginning immediately and hiring will likely begin in the next month. They hope to be operational in December.
According to a release, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered the company up to $3,310,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on their job creation plans.
