Foundation uses 1940s biplane to take veterans ‘back in time’

SOUTH CAROLINA (WSPA) — Some South Carolina veterans got the chance to take a flight back in time Wednesday.

The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation flies all over the country taking veterans up in a restored biplane – the same kind used to train the military in the 1940s.

Mike Sommars, a volunteer pilot with the non-profit, says their mission is to give back to those who have given.

“They have a lot of tears on their cheeks and so do we, it’s incredible,” said Sommars of the emotional day.

The group says this year, there will be more than 500 flights across the U.S.
