INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced it is awarding $499,000 to an Indianapolis non-profit fair housing organization.
HUD announced Wednesday it was giving two grants to the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana.
A $325,000 grant will be used to expand the public’s knowledge of the services of the Fair House Center and to uncover incidents of housing discrimination. A $174,000 grant will be used to investigate and provide remedies to address incidents of housing discrimination in the Indianapolis metropolitan area and increase access to fair housing education for members of protected classes.
Assistant HUS Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Gustavo Velasquez says the funding will help ensure that everyone has equal access to available housing opportunities.
