Indiana going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Hoosiers will start seeing a lot of pink starting Oct. 1 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To mark the month, the city of Indianapolis will be turning the canal pink. City officials and the Indianapolis Colts will put dye in the water at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

This is also the month where NFL teams wear pink uniforms during games. The Colts say they’ll be in pink for this Sunday’s home game against Jacksonville and breast cancer survivors will run through the tunnel.

If you or your loved one are looking for a low-cost breast cancer screening, there are organizations in each county that offer help. The Komen Foundation is one way to look for services in your area.
