INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Former State Representative Bill Crawford will lie in state in the Indiana Statehouse rotunda on Thursday.

People can pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Crawford’s funeral will be held on Friday at Eastern Star Church on East 30th Street.

Crawford died last Friday. He retired in 2012 after serving 40 years in the Indiana House. At that time, Crawford was the longest-serving black state legislator in the country.

Gov. Mike Pence asked that flags in Marion County fly at half-staff from sunrise Thursday through sunset after Crawford’s funeral Friday.
