Eric Halvorson shares emotional sign off on WISH-TV

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Long time 24-Hour News 8 anchor Eric Halvorson said his final farewell to viewers on Friday night.

During his signoff Halvorson said, “After 32 years, it’s coming to an end and it’s been an honor to be here to tell the stories of Indiana.”

As he held back tears he thanked all the viewers, people behind the scenes and his wife for all the years of hard work.

Halvorson started as a reporter at WISH-TV in 1983. He worked his way up to anchoring on the weekends, to anchoring the Daybreak show. He was finally promoted to evening anchor in 2004.

Over the years Halvorson has loved reporting news from around Indiana and he has had a little fun over the years.

He has won Emmy awards. But, he is just as proud that the Indiana Press Photographers Association once honored him with a 1st Place award for his work as a reporter and photographer aboard Chopper 8.
