Lucas Oil Stadium roof repaired ahead of Sunday’s game

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Crews have completed repairs to Lucas Oil Stadium prompted by a bolt falling and hitting fans.

The Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority said Friday that engineers certified the roof as “suitable to operate without restrictions.”

Engineers who looked into the issue determined the bolt that fell, along with seven others, were not tightened properly. A total of eighteen bolts were checked to ensure they weren’t defective or distressed.

Bolts were replaced with a new system of washers, longer bolts and double nuts. Then, the roof was tested with opening and closing to ensure the new system was safe.

The Colts play at Lucas Oil Stadium at 1 p.m. Sunday.
