Elevator at senior living community up and running again

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis senior living home for senior citizens now has a working elevator again after more than a moth without one.

A team from ThyssenKrupp worked at the Capitol Station apartments through the weekend after residents were forced to either take the stairs or stay inside for the last five weeks.

ThyssenKrupp said the elevator is now operational and should get a final inspection on Monday by the Indiana Division of Elevator Safety.

Residents told 24-Hour News 8 that the elevator broke in August.

Capitol Station said the issue with getting the elevator fixed was finding the replacement parts.

It was not clear if the apartment would give compensation to the tents.

ThyssenKrupp said that local technicians will continue to check with the building man managers to make sure the elevator continues to work properly.
