Lawrence council wants to bring back animal shelter

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — The Lawrence City Council is looking to re-open the animal shelter.

The council voted 8-1 for a resolution of support for a no-kill animal shelter.

The city’s shelter was closed following after neglect allegations in 2013.

An officer found two dead dogs, a dead cat, and several malnourished dogs inside.

Currently, Lawrence pays to take animals to the Indianapolis Care and Control shelter.
